Explorers are 14–18 years old.
Explorer Scouts are encouraged to lead themselves in deciding the programme and direction of the Unit, with support and guidance from leaders. The section also includes the Young Leaders’ Scheme, where young people are able to take on a leadership role in one of the younger sections.
There is wider scope for activities like offshore sailing, campaigning, performing, parascending, mountaineering and expeditions.
Brighouse District Explorers are also very focused on the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme (DofE), with all Explorers being offered the chance to take part at any level from Bronze to Gold
As an Explorer Scout, in Brighouse you have a home unit and you can also attend any of the other unit meetings that week as they all do different activities. By doing this, you will get the chance to do many more activities, not just the ones your branch unit and be able to achieve the Chief Scout’s Awards to celebrate your development as an Explorer Scout.
